The advancement of concealed carry (CCW) legislation in the state of Illinois has everyone buzzing. It also presents many opportunities, and options for firearms training. A quick review of your local news paper, radio station, or the inter-net will reveal a list of advertisers offering CCW training. We aplaud this and encourage you to participate in as many training opportunities as time and resources will allow. Below you will read our philosophy on training as well as our thoughts on the trainer.
Everyone who is exploring firearms training should first assure that the person they are receiving training from are certified to do so. This is a requirement if you are trying to satisfy requirements for a CCW permit. The most common form of certification for instructors is through the NRA. It is our experience that the NRA instructor program generally produces some of the finest people in the industry. Those you meet will be the same you would hope to have as a neighbor. Additionally, the class offering within the NRA system encourages the continued skill development of the shooter. A person with the right mindset can go from a novice who has never held a firearm, to a competent shooter by completing the NRA training regimend.
Instructors at Brittany Shooting Park are all certified by the NRA in the disciplines they teach. However, what separates us from other training facilities is the level of shooter that our instructors are. Never be afraid to ask for the credentials as a shooter of a potential instructor. It is our experience that far too many instructors have not taken the time to develop as shooters prior to offering their skills to train . You will find that all instructors at Brittany are also distinguished shooters at the Expert and Master Levels with the International Defensive Pistol Association. In most cases they have held multiple state titles throughout recent years. We invite you to review our instructors resume and ask questions.
